This section contains a few membership tricks, workarounds for little quirks and problems in memberships and coding. If you need the step-by-step directions for any operations mentioned below, head over to the Quick Reference Steps section of the Users Guide.

Removing a Deleted Ring from a Stack

  1. Log into your ID
  2. Go to http://S.webring.com/mbr?p=mu
  3. Locate the stack which contains the deleted membership
  4. Reorder that stack
  5. View stack - ring should be gone
If it still remains, ensure you've successfully deleted the membership from your list. This should also help update an erroneous status on your stack.

Getting Rid of the 'Brown Box', Step 1

  1. Login to your ID
  2. Compare the code on your site with what the system generates
  3. Make any necessary changes
The brown box can appear because of faulty code or a malformed stack, as shown in the next trick.

  1. Login to your ID
  2. Locate a membership which belongs on that stack
  3. Click as if you were going to EDIT the information
  4. Save without making any changes
  5. Repeat this for any additional memberships that should be appearing on the stack
This also works for an functioning stack that may be missing a membership or two. The ring will appear in it's current membership status (PENDING, SUSPENDED, ACTIVE)

Updating a 'stuck' status of your membership on the 'View Ring Sites' list

  1. Login to your ID
  2. Locate a membership which belongs on that stack
  3. Click as if you were going to EDIT the information
  4. Save without making any changes
  5. Repeat this for any additional memberships that display the wrong status
This is for when your site is listed on the hub, but appears as Suspended or Pending on your VRS. If the status doesn't change on your list, then the status on your STACK is wrong. Go to the first trick for instructions on changing the stack.

  1.   2. Locate this line: To browse visit <a href="http://ss.webring.com/navbar?f=l;y=andrea;u=10003483">Here</a>.
  3. Take the hyperlink <a href="http://ss.webring.com/navbar?f=l;y=andrea;u=10003483">Here</a> and change it to <a href="http://ss.webring.com/navbar?f=l;y=andrea;u=10003483">WebRings</a>
  4. Install it on the REGISTERED URL
You can have it read 'webring memberships' or any other phrase you wish so long as webring is part of the hyperlink text.

Contact ANY Ring Manager

  1. Load the BASIC ring hub page (http://z.webring.com/hub?ring=RINGID)
  2. Replace 'hub' with 'cgi-bin/mailrm'
